Jack Russell Terriers Available for Adoption

You Helped Us Build Some Dog Houses!

Russell Refuge, Inc., located in Rhinebeck, New York, provides temporary shelter to Jack Russell Terriers in the northeastern United States who are no longer wanted or have been placed in public shelters.

At any given time, we have around 40 Jack Russell Terriers in our facility. To protect our little guests from the elements (those cold Rhinebeck winters!), we purchased several heated dog houses.

The Forever Home Dog Houses have arrived at the Refuge. See some pictures!

Jan 11, 2008 - Finally the dog houses are built and in their places. Volunteers unloaded them from the cross country semi that arrived down at the office and then others brought them in sections with the pick-up from the office to the kennels. They were unloaded in very frigid weather and then put together by another team of volunteers. They are all up and functioning and the heaters will be connected as soon as the electrician comes by to hook us all up. Then the dogs can be toasty warm. They already make a difference for the dog's comfort level in the cold weather. We have had a reprieve from the blast of arctic air with temperatures in the 50s and 60s to give us some room before our next winter storm comes upon us.

We will take some pictures of the dogs and the completed dog houses when we have our plaques put on the walls.

Thanks again to all of you who donated entire dog houses and those of you who contributed as groups to buy one. We can't thank you enough for keeping our fearless JRTs warm this winter. This was a joint effort we thank everyone for. That being said we are still looking forward to spring - stay warm, thank you.

Thank You For Your Help

We have raised enough money through your tax-deductable donations to pay for the new Forever Home dog houses! Each dog house has a porch with a special winter door and extra insulation. We are also getting the stone exterior which adds even more insulation and does not rot. The dog houses will be heated to protect the terriers during the winter months.

Thank you for helping us keep the terriers warm and safe this winter. Please consider adopting a Jack Russell Terrier before winter starts!
