Save A Jack Russell Terrier

Beyond the gate, in a world of its own, lies our little kennel. A refuge for unwanted Jack Russell Terriers that come from shelters or homes where they are no longer welcome. It is a place of peace and understanding, offering the opportunity to heal from the traumas imposed on them simply for being what they are. Most of the dogs that come here go on to wonderful, loving homes, leading lives befitting their nature... some never do. The few who have not been so fortunate enough to be adopted due to old age or behavioral issues from misuse have pretty much become permanent residents.

We have many dogs here at the Refuge that are not pictured. We may have the perfect dog for YOU!! If you are interested in the possible adoption of a terrier, please submit our on-line application. All 10 pounds of her are fearless so she can appear to be quite pushy at times when playing chase games with other dogs. To Phoebe, the bigger the dog, the better the game. Phoebe doesn't appear to like cats but it's possible she could be taught to respect and/or tolerate a mellow cat. She is a quiet dog who for the most part, only barks if someone knocks at the door. He is a sweet natured dog who loves to play and run and bark. And get into things just because he can. Teddy would do well with a kind female but he is a bit picky. A fun little guy who is the perfect "grab him in your arms" size and he likes that!   Rhinebeck, NY		Patches Sex: Male Age: 3 years Coat: Smooth Color: White/black Work in Progress Patches is a three year old neutered male who came to us when he lost his owner and no one could take him in. He's tall and handsome and has lots of energy. This good natured boy gets along with other dogs and would be okay with older children. Danny Sex: Male Age: 4 years Coat: Smooth Color: Brown/white Available Apply to Adopt Danny       Donation for Danny Some people think Danny is unattractive, but he absolutely shines when he plays ball! He has all the moves. Danny does not kennel well and has been overlooked here due to his acting wild when someone looks at him. Best as only pet. Someone stopped by and was looking at the dogs for adoption. When approaching Danny's pen the comment was made "Look at that ugly dog with that stupid toy in his mouth. He'll never get a home. Should think about euthanizing that one". Danny's reply: "Well, I admit I'm a little long in the back and look a bit like I've been put together with spare parts. I'm only running around with this toy because I have anxieties here at the kennel. Dale took me for a ride in the car and said I was pretty good. She also took me to the office one day and I was so quiet, she had to look for me. She found me, with my big body scrunched into a tiny dog bed. I was so relaxed to be with her in a quiet environment that I fell fast asleep. I love to play ball and even though I may have a few problems to overcome, I am very kind to people (I just don't care to be with other dogs). I wish someone would give me a chance. Do only the cutest dogs get homes?"   Rhinebeck, NY		Freddie Sex: Male Age: 2-3 years Coat: Smooth Color: Tri-color Available Apply to Adopt Freddie       Donation for Freddie Freddie is a tallish smooth coat with an undocked tail. Freddie is very active and athletic. He is quite handsome too! We think he could excel at agility or racing. Being an only dog in an adult home would suit him best. We saved Freddie from death row at a kill shelter and are we glad we did! With a little training effort, Freddie will be a lovely dog for some lucky person.   Rhinebeck, NY

He is a sweet/kind dog who needs to learn what it is to be a house dog He will be better as an only dog. He would do best with a fenced yard where he can play with his toys and get to run around. Kimbo was found tied outside with no owner, left alone until someone called the CACC. She is all energy and does not stop. She is quiet in her crate and is a real soft and cuddly little girl. Jessie has been adopted! Congratulations! Jessie needs some housetraining work, but loves to race and chase the wind and absolutely needs a fenced yard. She is the sweetest dog around but was not taught "how" to play with humans so when she plays, she gets rough. Firm but gentle hands required for this cuddler. Remy has been adopted. Congratulations! Zoe Sex: Female Age: 8 years Coat: Broken Color: White Adopted Zoe is 8 years old. She is spayed, house-trained, crate trained and loving. She gets along fine with all people.
